Turin [Torino] in Piedmont is the capital of Italy’s café society. So it’s no wonder the city has a such a large number of grand café’s, tea rooms, ice cream shops and bars.

Turin is an important centre of gastronomy in Italy; Lavazza coffee, Leone Pastiles, Grissini bread sticks and Vermouth all originated here. As a result, the Piedmont region has some of Italy’s best food credentials.
One of the cities historic cafe’s is the ornate Baratti & Milano in Piazza Castello. Its beautiful old world interior is the perfect place to indulge in the Torin’s famous coffee drink, the Bicerin. Made by layering espresso, chocolate and cream into a glass, the Bicerin is a morning drink, with the idea being to sip all the layers tasting the different flavours.
